Golden girl Kathy O'Hara
Golden girl Kathy O’Hara has taken five rides at Wyong tomorrow (Wednesday), exactly one month away from her opportunity win the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on Chance By. And in an interesting riding switch one of O’Hara’s rides is the Steve Englebrecht trained Assertive Billy in the Twin Lakes Air Conditioning Benchmark 60 (2100m). While O’Hara goes on the Englebrecht trained four year old the trainers’ apprentice, Jessie Whipp will ride early favourite Cinderella Girl for Jim and Greg Lee. However Englebrecht said there was no motive in the move. “Kathy has ridden my horse more times than any other jockey and won him two starts back at Goulburn,” Englebrecht said. “Plus the owner loves Kathy but then again, who doesn’t at the moment. “My bloke is a bit lazy in his races and Kathy won’t take any nonsense from him. “She will make him keep his mind on the job.” Not that Whipp has been left out of the picture with Assertive Billy. She has ridden him twice including his last start when third at Gosford. While O’Hara has an affinity with Assertive Billy, Whipp has developed has developed an understanding of Cinderella Girl. She has ridden the horse at his last three starts for a fourth at Kembla Grange, a win at Canterbury and a close second over 2100 metres at Gosford at his last start.
