The Warwick Farm trained Rapauric continued his love affair with Wyong by coming from near last to win the Dan and Ken On Drive 2GO Benchmark 70 (1350m). The five year old has now six races and four of those have been at Wyong but it might be the last that is seen of the big chestnut for a while. “He has been in work for a long time and deserves a break,” trainer Mauro Poletti said. “This is a good horse and he should have won more races but he is his own worst enemy. “He pulls badly but Tommy rode him a treat.” Apprentice Tommy Berry let Rapauric drop right out and settle then gradually worked forward to be the widest runner at the top of the straight. He stormed down the centre of the track to catch Gypsy Ruler (Corey Brown) in the shadows of the post and win by a short head.
