The Rod Craig trained Sir Nick is headed for a city class race after successfully backing up to win the 2GO FM 107.7 Benchmark 60 (1200m). It also gave Nash Rawiller the second leg of a double after earlier winning on Purrfect Dancer. The win by Sir Nick followed his maiden win at Gosford earlier this month and convinced Craig that Sir Nick might now be showing his true potential. “We always knew he had ability but the horse has had a lot of feet problems,” Craig said. “I wanted to give him a run here before going to town to get a guide on him. “It is amazing the number of horses that win at Wyong then go on to win in Sydney. “It is also great that you can attract all the top riders to Wyong as well. “That was a perfect ride by Nash.” Rawiller had Sir Nick in second placed on the rails behind the leader Toughened (Alison Threadwell). In the straight Sir Nick took control but the Paul Perry trained Toughened toughed it out to run second, beaten three quarters of a length.
